‘Impotent clown’: Internet mocks Trump for Twitter meltdown on Russian sanctions

President Donald Trump appeared to be searching for someone to blame for legislative failures during a Sunday afternoon Twitterstorm.

"As the phony Russian Witch Hunt continues, two groups are laughing at this excuse for a lost election taking hold, Democrats and Russians!" Trump tweeted after his 42nd-day playing golf in just six months.

"It's very sad that Republicans, even some that were carried over the line on my back, do very little to protect their President," he continued, appearing to attack the Republicans unwilling to vote for the 2015 Obamacare repeal.

After the failure of the GOP bill to repeal and replace Obamacare, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell sought to pass an old 2015 law that the Senate was willing to pass that would repeal the Affordable Care Act. Former President Barack Obama vetoed the bill and the Senate did not have the votes necessary to override.

Trump and McConnell sought to pass the same law a second time, but some Republicans who voted for it in 2015 were unwilling to vote for it again now that Obamacare's popularity is on the rise.

By Sunday, the news was that the Senate Republicans and Democrats would be passing a law to protect sanctions against Russia for the hacking of the 2016 election. Trump, who maintains that there was no Russian hack, was furious with both sides of the political aisle.
