‘Intriguing scenario’: Ex-FBI counterintelligence head explains how Paul Manafort could turn out be a ‘triple agent’

The former Assistant Director for Counterintelligence at the Federal Bureau of Investigation laid out the "intriguing scenario" that former Donald Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort could have been a "triple agent" during a Tuesday appearance on MSNBC's "The 11th Hour" with Brian Williams.

"Frank Figliuzzi, you told one of our producers tonight that Manfort could be turning out to be a triple agent," Williams noted.

"I'm using a counterintelligence term, when somebody is pretending to work for multiple parties," he explained.

"Manafort, in my mind, is working for Russia, he's worked for Trump, he's pretended to work for Mueller," he noted.

"The question is, who was he really working for other than himself?" he wondered.

"He's a con man, he was playing three sides against the middle, and I think ultimately he is going to be the loser here," he concluded.
