Investigation reveals how Mueller witness funneled millions to top Trump fundraiser to reshape Mideast policy

A new investigation has revealed that George Nader, a political adviser to the United Arab Emirates, secretly sent millions of dollars to a top Trump fundraiser who then pressured congressmen to take a hard-line stance against UAE's regional rival Qatar.

The Associated Press reports that Nader last year wired $2.5 million to Trump fundraiser Elliott Broidy through a Canadian company. Broidy proceeded to make several large donations to key Republican lawmakers, whom he then lobbied to support backing tougher measures against Qatar, which was soon after blockaded by UAE and Saudi Arabia with the backing of the United States.

"A month after he received the money, Broidy sponsored a conference on Qatar’s alleged ties to Islamic extremism," writes the Associated Press. "During the event, Republican Congressman Ed Royce of California, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, announced he was introducing legislation that would brand Qatar as a terrorist-supporting state."

Nader is now a cooperating witness in special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, and he has attended numerous meetings at the White House with Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner.
