President Donald Trump issued a stark threat against Iran Wednesday, warning that a U.S. naval “armada” led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln is moving toward the region and could carry out forceful military action if Tehran does not agree to a deal to end its nuclear ambitions — comments coming as the carrier and three accompanying warships arrive in the Middle East amid heightened tensions over Iran’s violent crackdown on nationwide protests and its nuclear program. Trump’s Truth Social warning — citing readiness to act “with speed and violence, if necessary” and claiming the next strike could be “far worse” than last year’s attacks on Iranian nuclear sites — has fueled fears of confrontation even as the Pentagon describes the deployment as a show of strength while offering a path to negotiation.
