'It’s an honor to be with you': Trump gives Putin warm greeting as the superpowers engage in high-stakes meeting

Prior to going into a private meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, President Donald Trump told the press that it was an honor to meet with the Russian strongman.

Exchanging pleasantries for the assembled photographers, Trump and Putin shook hands, with the American president speaking first and then hunching over in his seat while Putin responded via a translator.

During his remarks, Trump stated he and Putin "look forward to a lot of very positive things happening for Russia for the United States."
