A bitter feud erupted among President Donald Trump’s online allies this week after Laura Loomer accused right-wing influencer Jack Posobiec’s media outlet of ties to Qatar. Critics on the right fired back that she got the facts badly wrong.
“SCOOP: The conservative news outlet ‘Human Events,’ which is affiliated with @JackPosobiec, who hosts the Human Events podcast, is listed in a new FARA filing for Qatar,” Loomer wrote Thursday. She called Qatar a country “which finances Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.”
The Foreign Agents Registration Act filing she highlighted lists a Sept. 24 text-message contact between a firm working for Qatar and Human Events. Loomer suggested it “explains why Human Events and Jack Posobiec are incredibly hostile toward Israel.”
John Solomon, editor-in-chief of Just the News, which also appears in such filings, called Loomer’s posts “a reckless series of posts worthy of Joe McCarthy.” He said she “deceptively trimmed the form” to show only the contact with Posobiec. The full filing, he said, shows “similar routine contacts with Fox News, The Daily Mail, Newsmax, CNN and NBC,” along with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
“Most times, a PR firm, lobbying firm or law firm working for a foreign power has a contact with an American media outlet it gets reported on a FARA report,” Solomon wrote. He warned Loomer that she “will get a retraction request from our lawyers.”
Mike Benz, a former State Department official and conservative commentator, said Loomer “should apologize to John Solomon and Jack Posobiec and issue a retraction or clarification immediately,” calling it “Russiagate-style stuff.”
Loomer didn’t back down. She noted that Hamad AlMuftah, the deputy chief of mission at the Qatari Embassy in Washington, had joined the fight on Solomon and Posobiec’s side. She asked: “Why is the Qatari embassy so upset with what I posted?”
Navy veteran and political commentator Travis Akers wrote that Posobiec “is expected to be removed from Turning Point USA following reports that he may be lobbying for Qatar.” He added that “Team Trump unfollowed Posobiec on social media yesterday.” Akers’ post has drawn more than 830,000 views.
Raw Story could not independently confirm the unfollow or any change to Posobiec’s role at Turning Point USA. Robert Barnes, an attorney who previously represented Trump, dismissed the unfollow claim as “fake.” He called the account that first spread it “a foreign agent supported account," but that characterization was rejected by X's Grok bot.
There is no evidence that Posobiec or Human Events received money from Qatar.
