James Comer accuses the media of conspiring with the 'deep state' to protect Joe Biden

Rep. James Comer accused the press of “working with the Deep State" by reporting his impeachment efforts against President Joe Biden were failing due to the lack of a smoking gun.

Comer spoke about his media coverage Monday with Fox Across America host Jimmy Failla, who claimed Democrats had launched a counter-effort "to try to sell the American public on the idea that you guys haven’t found anything."

“Well, [U.S. Attorney General Merrick] Garland’s working with the deep state,” Comer said, "who’s working with the liberal mainstream media, to try to indoctrinate into people’s minds that there’s no evidence."

Comer also outlined his case against Biden and his family including evidence a Washington Post fact-check later described as " scant."

"There’s ten different Biden family members that received incremental payments through 20 shell companies that received wires from, from at least five foreign countries that were for services that we have yet to determine," said Comer. "For nearly $30 million. And then according to the Irish whistleblowers, they didn’t pay any taxes on it."

Comer also argued President Biden had received 25 percent of a $1 million payment, which the Washington Post suggest references two loans to his brother Jim.

"The committee has suggested that Jim Biden repaid the loans with money he received from overseas, such as a Chinese company," the Washington Post reports. "Jim Biden has told congressional investigators that his brother was never involved in his business activities. There is no indication that Joe Biden knew the source of funding."

Comer went on to describe the media coverage of the impeachment inquiry into Biden a "clown show" that had turned him into the tourist attraction in his 2,500-person town.

"I’m the biggest tourist attraction in that town because of all the reporters and the opposition research, and they stand out like a sore thumb," Comer said. "They can tell when they get out of the car and see their little Gucci slippers that they’re not from my red wing boot wearing hometown."
