'Possible Streisand effect here': James Comer opens 'investigation' into Zelenskyy

Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chair of the powerful House Oversight Committee, vowed Wednesday to open an investigation into Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's recent trip to Pennsylvania after he called Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance "radical."

On the same day Zelenskyy toured a weapons plant in Pennsylvania, the Ukrainian leader toldThe New Yorker that the war should not end at the expense of his country's territories. Zelenskyy lamented that Vance was "too radical" to be Donald Trump's vice presidential running mate.

On Wednesday, Comer suggested the Biden administration had used "taxpayer-funded resources to fly Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Pennsylvania to campaign for Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 presidential election."

Comer argued that the trip to Pennsylvania was inappropriate because it was "a battleground state for Harris's campaign."

"If the Biden-Harris Administration attempted to use a foreign leader to benefit the Vice President's' presidential campaign, this is an abuse of power and misuse of taxpayer dollars," Comer said.
