Senator shares photo series contrasting 2025 with Trump's loss in 2021

Sen. Andy Kim (D-NJ) was at the U.S. Capitol Monday to observe the certification of the 2024 election — and he shared photos he said highlighted a stark contrast to the last time it happened.

Many Democrats have posted online that their party is not made up of election deniers, a slight aimed at the GOP which includes many members who still believe the 2020 election was stolen away from Donald Trump.

While at the Capitol, Kim took photos of the building now, comparing parts of the building to how the looked during the Jan. 6 attack in 2021.

"I’m walking through the Capitol this morning and took some photos in the same spots as what we saw 4 years ago," he wrote.

A photo of the Capitol Rotunda shows the violent crowd clashing with police in riot gear. This year, an officer stands in the doorway with lights set up, preparing for President Jimmy Carter to lie in state.

Another picture shows the so-called QAnon Shaman, the tattooed man wearing an animal fur headdress with horns, shouting at the top of his lungs while standing in front of a painting and a vice-presidential bust.

His third photo shows Officer Eugene Goodman, who led the violent mob from the door where U.S. Senators were to another area of the Capitol away from them. On Monday, that hallway is empty.

Other photos showed broken glass in the doors, and damaged bullet-proof glass that was shattered but not broken out entirely.
