Dems are sitting on 400 pages of evidence on Ivanka and Jared Kushner's financial deals

As GOP lawmakers in the Republican-controlled House ramp up their investigation of Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, there is a growing appetite among some Democrats to use their control of the Senate to hold hearings on the hundreds of millions made by Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner while they served in the White House for four years.

According to a report from the New Republic's Mark Hosenball, Democrats would be well served by opening hearings on the couple as a counterpoint to the Biden investigations being headed by Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and James Comer (R-KY) — and the Democrats already have the goods to proceed.

One Democratic insider told the TNR journalist that some "Democrats simply have other priorities, including a robust policy agenda, that they want to focus on" and added that "there’s no evidence to suggest that additional investigations of Trump would damage or influence his political prospects."

However, Hosenball writes there are others who want to proceed with hearings on Ivanka and Jared.

Those hearings would likely be conducted by Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) who oversees a Senate Judiciary subcommittee with an assist from Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) who " who has been leading the way collecting information on Trump and his scams."

According to the New Republic report, the Senate hearings could start at any time because one insider claims there is a wealth of investigatory material already on hand.

"The source said Democratic investigators had assembled 400 pages’ worth of evidence related to alleged personal financial dealings that Trump daughter Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, reportedly engaged in while they were both on the government payroll, ostensibly serving as aides to Ivanka’s daddy," the report states, before adding that public interest group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics (CREW) also has a "dossier" on the couple.

The report adds, "Some sources said the Democrats are considering retaliative action closer to election time. One source said Democrats on both sides of Capitol Hill are 'keeping their powder dry' so that if they do decide to seriously engage in scandalmongering regarding the finances of Trump and offspring, they could do so at a 'more effective point' during the forthcoming presidential campaign."
