On Friday, the New York Timesrevealed that top officials including John Kelly and Don McGahn had opposed giving security clearance to Jared Kushner.
The administration has not officially denied the account, but Kellyanne Conway, speaking from CPAC, told Fox News that the administration didn't discuss security clearances.
On CNN Friday, conservative columnist Bill Kristol observed that it wasn't just a matter of Kushner's lack of expertise on the global stage. There appear to also have been concerns about his international connections.
"Are you in debt with someone? Is there stuff that can be used for blackmail," Kristol noted. "Do you have close friends and associates with dubious characters?"
