A Secret Service member of the Vice Presidential Protective Division faces potential criminal inquiry for allegedly leaking information about Vice President J.D. Vance.
The leak involved the security detail's mockery merchandise, according to CNN sources and Daily Beast reports.
The detail created coins, stickers, and badges mocking Vance with slogans including "Bobcat OTR Survivors Club" and "Advance. OTR. Repeat," according to MS NOW.
Bobcat is Vance's Secret Service codename.
The suspected leaker has been placed on administrative leave, according to a statement by U.S. Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi. Additionally, he explained, the individual faces "potential criminal inquiry, involving allegations of compromising operational and information security."
In a statement shared with NBC News, Guglielmi added, “While we will not comment on the specifics of this matter, one principle is unequivocal: any conduct that potentially threatens the safety of a protectee will not be tolerated.”
The leaks revealed widespread frustration within Vance's security detail over what they characterized as hastily arranged personal and family travel requests.
