Attorney A. Scott Bolden reminded Vice President J.D. Vance that, as an elected official, he would have to "deal with protests" after he complained about demonstrators confronting him over his stance on Ukraine.
Writing on the X social media platform, Vance griped that his 3-year-old daughter had been "scared" by people protesting the Trump administration's decision to "pause" aid to Ukraine.
"Today, while walking my 3-year-old daughter, a group of 'Slava Ukraini' protesters followed us around and shouted as my daughter grew increasingly anxious and scared," Vance revealed. "It was a mostly respectful conversation, but if you're chasing a 3-year-old as part of a political protest, you're a sh-t person."
The protesters later disputed Vance's version of events.
Bolden addressed Vance's complaints Sunday on NewsNation.
"But listen, you run for office, you're in the United States of America, everyone's got a First Amendment, you take it on, you bring it on, you cannot be heard to complain about the life you've chosen," Bolden said. "Now, granted, if it was a respectful conversation and these are reasonable protesters, which it sounds like in your report, then he's got to go with that."
"But the bottom line is the Republicans, with this radicalization of changing America, if you will, are gonna get protest and pushback," he continued. "I think it's positive. I think it shows that our democracy is strong, it's bending, but it's not ready to break yet."
"And I think this administration wants it to break or at least redefine it."
Republican pundit Denise Gitsham, however, argued that there was "no justification" for the protesters' actions.
"And I think everyone should agree that children are just always off limits," she told Bolden. "I think we all need to agree that that's never acceptable, and it shouldn't be allowed, and we should not condemn it."

"Well, Denise, wait a minute, though," Bolden replied. "They didn't attack his son or daughter, the three-year-old. He happened to be with his son's daughter."
"If you're gonna be the Vice President, you're going to have to deal with protesters," he added.
