One of the Democrats on the House Oversight Committee called attention to a document displayed at a new hearing with Jeffrey Epstein's victims that could potentially reveal the names of his co-conspirators.
The panel's Democratic minority held a shadow hearing Tuesday in Palm Beach, Florida, where survivors of the well-connected sex offender provided tearful testimony about his abuse and international sex trafficking ring, and Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) described powerful evidence about individuals allegedly involved in that network.
"The throughline here is that their corruptinterests that unfortunately, are corrupting theadministration of justice inthis particular case," Krishnamoorthi told MS NOW. "There was a very importantdocument that was displayed atthis particular hearing showingthat the [Department of Justice] itself, back in2019, identified numerousco-conspirators to Jeffrey Epstein. But that very document came back to us produced withredactions of at least sixindividuals, and none of themhave been disclosed."
Epstein was found dead in jail that year, during President Donald Trump's first term, while awaiting trial on new sex trafficking charges, and the DOJ's investigative files should have been released months ago as part of the Epstein Transparency Act signed into law toward the end of last year.
"They mightbe among us continuing theirpredatory practices," Krishnamoorthi said, "and amongthe others, the only two peoplewho have been prosecuted in anyin any way is Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, and Maxwellnow is seeking a pardon. Shemight actually get one from Trump, which is completelyunacceptable. So you see, justa corrupt administration ofjustice here."
Krishnamoorthi said other executive agencies overseen by Trump possess evidence that has still not come to light about Epstein and his network.
"CanI just say one other thing, which you pointed out before, but which came out loud andclear at the hearing, which isthat there's $1.5 billion worthof wire transactions containedin what are called suspiciousactivity reports that have notbeen produced by the Treasury Department and has beenspecifically blocked by Scott Bessent at Donald Trump'sbehest," Krishnamoorthi said. "I feel that that is anobvious and an incrediblyimportant source of informationto illuminate the scandal and accountability for what was done."
