Fox News personality Jesse Watters on Thursday treated the viewers to a lengthy rant about Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, mocking him as part of a coordinated GOP messaging strategy to make him look effeminate.
"I have questions that I'd like local reporters to ask Low-T Talafreako," said Watters, who has a long and controversial history of offensive remarks on air. "Does James Talarico even own a gun? Is James Talarico a Cowboys fan, a Houston Texans fan? Does he know the Spurs are playing tonight? Has Talarico ever been to a football game or is he more of a World Cup guy? Does Talarico own a truck? Does he believe in premarital sex? Does Talarico wear women’s underwear?"
Commenters on social media had a field day with Watters' schoolyard bully remarks — and hit him back with some jabs of their own.
"Why is this man a TV host and not in therapy?" asked newsletter writer and columnist Zaid Jilani.
"In the last two days, we've had Jesse Watters attacking Talarico for being queeny, and Stephen Miller attacking Beto O'Rourke for supposedly being odd-looking," wrote author James Surowiecki. "Do these guys never look at themselves in the mirror?"
"Time for everyone to learn about the concept of precarious manhood," wrote Toronto Star columnist Bruce Arthur, linking to research that connects male insecurity with Republican politics.
"Ok, so, Jesse?" wrote Chef Joe Gera. "We need to talk about your Daily Show audition back in 2004. Or did you forget we had the same manager? Also, you couldn’t hold your liquor. Like to the point of accidentally tossing your wallet into the drain outside of Mercury on 46th & 9th. And then there’s when you got ‘snippy’ with our Rockette friends ... Remember Nancy? I do."
"I’m not sure if Watters wants Talarico to wear women’s underwear or not. Watters continues his obsession with what’s inside everybody’s pants," wrote former Louisiana congressional candidate Robert Jon Anderson.
"Jesse, you’re literally wearing makeup in this video," wrote social media influencer Jared Shult.
