Hillary Clinton joined forces with Jimmy Kimmel, to show just what kind of pressures and double standards women face in the public arena — thanks to the constant, never-ending criticism from men.
"Are you familiar with 'mansplaining'?" Jimmy started off. "Do you know what that is?"
"Yeah," Hillary said in a deadpan tone. "That's when a man explains something to a woman in a patronizing way?
"Actually, it's when a man explains something to a woman in a condescending way," Jimmy answered back. "But you were close."
He then elaborated further to the audience: "So mansplaining is way that we men can help women be better," and so he wanted to "help" Hillary in just this way with her public speaking style.
As Hillary spoke, Jimmy kept interrupting her to tell her what to do — with the advice constantly changing in order to put down whatever she was doing. Among the highlights:
Hillary finally replied: "You know, Jimmy, your comments are kind of contradictory.
"Yeah?"
"It's like nothing I do is right."
"Exactly, you're not doing it right," said Jimmy. "I can't quite put my finger on it. But it's something — you're not, um—"
"A man?"
"Yes, that is it! You're not a man. But that was really cute, the way you did it, though."
"Well, thanks," Hillary said. "That was what I was going for."
