Joan Walsh picked up by CNN after widespread outrage over firing from MSNBC

Pundit and author Joan Walsh announced Saturday night that she will be moving to CNN in 2018 after the news she'd been fired from MSNBC sparked widespread outrage.

"I am overwhelmed by the support I've received today from all of you. And I'm thrilled to tell you I'll be heading to @CNN in the new year. Thanks to everyone who made this happen. A Christmas miracle," wrote Walsh on Twitter.

News broke late Friday night that MSNBC was letting Walsh go, three days before Christmas.

“Yes, it’s Christmas weekend,” she wrote on Twitter. “I was baking pies with my daughter, who is home for the holidays, when I got the news. It didn’t feel too good. But all of your support helps, a lot. I’m grateful to the people who have fought for me.”

Support for Walsh poured in from all corners of the web.

Many commenters expressed disgust that MSNBC -- the purportedly progressive TV network -- would opt to keep conservative pundit Hugh Hewitt and show Walsh the door.
