‘Total degenerate’: Trump lashes out at 'dumb' John Kelly over his series of interviews

Calling retired Marine General John Kelly “dumb” and a "lowlife,” Donald Trump on Wednesday unleashed a social media tirade aimed at his former chief of staff, who in a series of articles this week revealed startling details of the former president’s inner thoughts – which Trump blamed on "pure Trump Derangement Syndrome Hatred."

“Thank you for your support against a total degenerate named John Kelly, who made up a story out of pure Trump Derangement Syndrome Hatred! This guy had two qualities, which don’t work well together. He was tough and dumb. The problem is his toughness morphed into weakness, because he became JELLO with time!" Trump wrote in a post Wednesday afternoon.

Trump’s rant on Truth Social came a day after Kelly blasted his old boss in a series of recorded interviews with the New York Times, which he told the publication were spurred by Trump’s recent threats to use the military on the “enemy within.”

Among the more startling details that emerged from the interviews include Kelly’s report that Trump once stated he needed “the kind of generals that Hitler had” and that the former president “met the definition of a fascist.” Another article in The Atlantic reported that Trump became irate and backed out of paying for the funeral of Vanessa Guillen, an Army private who was beaten to death and burned by a fellow soldier.

“The story about the Soldiers was A LIE, as are numerous other stories he told," Trump's post reads. "Even though I shouldn’t be wasting my time with him, I always feel it’s necessary to hit back in pursuit of THE TRUTH. John Kelly is a LOWLIFE, and a bad General, whose advice in the White House I no longer sought, and told him to MOVE ON! His wife once told me, at Camp David, John admires you tremendously, and when he leaves the Military, he will only speak well of you. I said, Thank you!”
