Jon Stewart rips 'hypocritical, corrosive' Sean Hannity: 'You're the Arby's of news'

The tete-a-tete between Daily Show host Jon Stewart and Fox News' Sean Hannity continued Wednesday night, with Stewart sarcastically "admitting" to Hannity that despite his "disingenuous, hypocritical, corrosive, non-factual, hacky, awful word turds," Hannity was right to say he was "kind of obsessed" with the conservative commentator.

"I'm obsessed with your program in the same way that that I'm obsessed with antibiotic-resistant super bugs, or the Pacific garbage patch, or the KFC Double Down," Stewart said. "I just can't believe that in this day and age, with all that we know, this sh*t is out there."

Stewart said he found it hard to believe that humanity is still "weighed down" by ancient burdens like Hannity's show.

"My God, you're the Arby's of news," Stewart said, before calling the fast food chain the "Hannity of roast beef sandwiches."

Stewart did more sincerely concede Hannity's point, though, that he had erred in inviting singer Yusuf Islam -- formerly known as Cat Stevens -- to perform at his "rally for sanity" event after Islam openly stated his support for an Islamic fatwa against novelist Salman Rushdie.

"I should have looked into it more," Stewart said. "I should have known better. I'm just not sure you're the best guy to make the guilt-by-musician association point."

To illustrate his point, Stewart showed footage of Hannity smilingly referring to rocker Ted Nugent as a "friend and frequent guest of the program" right after clips of Nugent hurling vulgarities from the stage regarding President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

"Believe it or not, I didn't know about the Cat Stevens fatwa thing when we booked him," Stewart chided. "But you literally went from a tape of Ted Nugent saying that sh*t to, 'Well, that was friend of the show Ted Nugent.'"
