Judge sentences man who beat girlfriend to write 'boys do not hit girls' 5,000 times

Yesterday, the Montana judge who only sentenced a teacher who raped one of his 14-year-old students to 30 days in jail because the teenage victim was "older than her chronological age" and "in control," ordered a man convicted of abusing his girlfriend to write "boys do not hit girls" 5,000 times.
Pacer Ferguson, the man who must write these lines, was convicted of repeatedly punching his girlfriend in the face during a 2012 argument. His girlfriend's face was fractured in three places, and she claims to still feel the lingering effects of the beating to this day.
District Judge G. Todd Baugh also sentenced Ferguson to six months in jail, and ordered him to pay $3,800 in medical bills that resulted from his girlfriend's injuries.
Judge Baugh was careful to note that he sentenced Ferguson to the maximum allowed time for a misdemeanor assault, and that the lines he compelled Ferguson to write were in addition to that sentence.
