Judge strikes down Virginia law binding state Republican delegates to Trump

A federal judge ruled on Monday that a Virginia law binding Republican state delegates to Donald Trump was unconstitutional, the conservative news site RedState reported.

While it does not change rules regarding delegates at the upcoming Republican National Convention, the decision allows the plaintiff, Carroll "Beau" Correll, as well as other Virginia delegates to vote for another candidate during the first round of balloting.

WTKR-TV reported that the judge agreed with Correll's argument that being forced to vote for Trump as a delegate violated his First Amendment rights.
