'This court is not concerned': Judge Chutkan shuts down Trump lawyer's complaint

Judge Tanya Chutkan on Thursday showed she had little use for Trump attorney John Lauro's complaints about potentially damaging information about his client being litigated right before the 2024 presidential election.

As reported by legal journalist Adam Klasfeld, Lauro objected to a proposal by prosecutors to file a brief on Trump's prospective immunity from criminal prosecution for his actions within the next three weeks.

Lauro contended that such a brief would potentially put damaging information about Trump "into the public record at a very sensitive time in our nation's history, which we can't ignore."

Chutkan, however, gave this argument no weight whatsoever.

In particular, she said that "I understand that there's an election impending" but then added that "this court is not concerned about the election schedule."

Lauro again objected to this and claimed that "there's something unseemly about a rush to judgement."

Chutkan, however, did not seem inclined to give Trump and his lawyers any further delays than absolutely necessary.

"This case has been pending for more than a year," she reminded him. "We're hardly sprinting to the finish line."
