Justice Department ordered to turn over unredacted Mueller report by Roger Stone judge

On Thursday, Judge Amy Berman Jackson, who is presiding over the upcoming trial of President Donald Trump's former campaign adviser Roger Stone, ordered the Justice Department to submit the complete, unredacted Russia report of special counsel Robert Mueller for her to review.

Jackson's filing states that she will review the evidence to determine whether to comply with Stone's lawyers' demand to review the Mueller report themselves, in an attempt to bolster their defense.

Stone became a key figure in the Russia investigation for his apparent boasts that he was helping Trump's campaign coordinate with WikiLeaks' release of stolen Democratic Party emails.

He later denied that he actually had any role in this, but Mueller went on to charge him with obstruction, false statements, and witness tampering for his conduct during the investigation.

The run-up to Stone's trial, which is scheduled to take place later this year, has only landed him in more trouble, as he posted what appeared to be a threatening image of Jackson on social media. He narrowly escaped having his bail revoked, and was placed under a gag order.

The Trump administration has broadly sought to keep the unredacted Mueller report under wraps, with Attorney General William Barr defying a congressional subpoena and facing contempt of Congress.
