Karen Santorum: Rick would 'do nothing' on issue of contraception
March 20, 2012
In an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan on Monday night, Karen Santorum, wife of 2012 Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum, said that "Women have nothing to fear" about the prospect of a Santorum presidency.
"When it comes to contraceptives," she said, "He will do nothing on that issue."
Santorum's blandishments on that score aside, her husband's words would seem to indicate otherwise.
Just a few weeks ago, the former Pennsylvania senator was calling birth control "a grievous moral wrong" and vowing to make certain that Catholic institutions can deny insurance coverage for birth control pills to women who work for them.
Nonetheless, Santorum seems convinced that if her husband were elected president he would be "nothing but supportive" of women.
