One of President Donald Trump's key allies could soon find herself in legal jeopardy if she keeps showing "disrespect" to court orders, according to a former federal prosecutor.
Glenn Kirschner, the former deputy U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C., said on a recent episode of his podcast "Justice Matters" that Trump ally Kari Lake, who leads the U.S. Agency for Global Media, has shown "disrespect" for recent court orders. He noted a recent case where Judge Royce Lamberth of the District of Columbia said Lake's agency "clearly" lacked plans to abide by his order to broadcast news into parts of the world with limited press freedom.
Kirschner added that Lake's actions could land her in legal trouble.
"If she thinks that she can bulldoze her way through this litigation, bulldoze her way through Judge Lambert's courtroom and over the top of Judge Lambert, she's got another thing coming," Kirschner said. "She will be held in contempt if Judge Lambert believes the evidence is there that she is intentionally violating his court orders."
Lake is not the only Trump administration official who has been accused of defying court orders. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has also been accused of defying court orders preventing the deportation of immigrants before they are allowed to see a judge.
