Karl Rove issues dire warning for Trump as GOP fractures on Super Tuesday
March 05, 2024
Longtime Republican strategist Karl Rove has a dark warning for the Republican Party: former President Donald Trump isn't getting the unity he needs to win.
Rove made the claim on Fox News Tuesday, as primary results came in on Super Tuesday, according to an NBC News report.
"There's still some work to be done to unify the Republican Party," Rove reportedly said. "That's going to depend a lot on his tone tonight and whether or not he stops doing things like calling her birdbrained and threatening that if you give money to her campaign you're going to be permanently banned."
Rove also noted that Haley drew more than 20 percent of the vote in many states such as Virginia, Massachusetts and Maine, reported Jason Abbruzzese.
Rove has previously warned in a Wall Street Journal analysis the GOP is heading for self-destruction if they give the former president another nomination.
"Neither party’s front-runner will be easily dislodged," wrote Rove last November. "But if no changes are made, Americans will get the worst dumpster fire of a campaign in history. It doesn’t have to be this way, and everyone but Messrs. Trump and Biden has good reason to try changing it. The party that picks a fresh face will likely win the White House."
Trump appears poised to win almost all, if not all, of the Super Tuesday contests as of press time.
