FBI Director Kash Patel was called out on Tuesday after he announced to great fanfare a new addition to the FBI's Most Wanted list.
"This FBI has had historic success manhunting Ten Most Wanted fugitives – since the start of the Trump administration, we’ve captured TEN of the Top Ten Most Wanted, 2.5 times the number of TMW fugitives captured during the previous four years combined," wrote Patel on his X account.
The newest addition to the list, he declared, is Satinjerdeet Singh, "wanted for his alleged involvement in the Lawrence Bishnoi Organized Crime Group — allegedly engaged in a variety of violent acts in Southern California, and across the United States and Canada — including assassinations of political and religious figures, shootings, murders, kidnappings, extortions, assaults, and the trafficking of narcotics and weapons." Patel noted a $1 million reward for information.
But MS NOW's Ken Dilanian replied, highlighting the suspicious pattern that has occurred with the Most Wanted list, and the allegations made by agents within the bureau.
"As MS Now has reported, FBI officials say the bureau has been placing people on the Most Wanted list whose capture is believed to be imminent. In other words, these officials tell us — they are gaming the system. One fugitive was captured in Mexico an hour and 13 minutes after being placed on the list."
Patel, a former staffer for House Republicans, has lurched from controversy to controversy since Trump appointed him to head the FBI. A report from The Atlantic earlier this year depicted him as paranoid, constantly drinking on the job, and terrified he would be booted from the administration any day — for which Patel responded by suing the magazine.
