Wesley Britt hadn't posted on X in more than three years. A viral meme of his wife, Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.), brought him back.
The former Alabama Crimson Tide and New England Patriots lineman, now a real estate development executive, posted on Thursday evening, AL.com reported. It was his first post since August 2023.
He shared a photo of the senator's wide-eyed, stunned expression from a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing with former special counsel Jack Smith on Tuesday. His caption read: "My wife watching me sleepwalking and crushing leftovers."
Sen. Britt reposted it on Friday morning with two words: "Nailed it."
The face went viral after MS NOW cameras caught it during an exchange between Smith and Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.).
Schmitt accused Smith of perjury for denying that he attended an Atlanta Hawks game on Feb. 3, 2024. When Schmitt asked whether he remembered going, Smith said he "definitely did not." Staffers then held up a posterboard of text messages that Schmitt said proved Smith was at a Hawks-Golden State Warriors game.
"I think you've already perjured yourself," Schmitt said.
Later in the hearing, it came out that Smith hadn't been at a Hawks game at all. He was in Maryland watching Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes, according to AL.com.
Britt's reaction quickly spread online. Actor Marisa Tomei joined in, sharing a thread with her Oscar-winning testimony scene from "My Cousin Vinny," the 1992 courtroom comedy set in Alabama.
Wesley Britt's last post before this week was from August 2023, about former Alabama star Jonathan Allen, AL.com reported.
