Right-wing podcaster Katie Miller was brutally mocked on Monday after she made a strange claim about her husband during a Fox News interview.
Katie Miller, who is married to Stephen Miller, President Donald Trump's deputy chief of staff, said during an appearance on "The Ingraham Angle" with host Laura Ingraham that her husband took some heroic actions while she was being evacuated from the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday after a shooting. Video of the couple showed Stephen Miller standing behind his pregnant wife as they were rushed out of the event.
Katie Miller claimed that her husband was "protecting her" during the evacuation.
"He was behind me, protecting me, and our baby," Katie Miller said.
The claim didn't go over so well with political analysts and observers on social media.
"Complete clown show. I feel like we are Russia now," political advocate James Tate posted on X.
"Miller was acting fine and people should stop criticizing him, but 'He was behind me, protecting me' is very funny," author James Surowiecki posted on X.
"Protecting her from behind...?" political analyst Wajahat Ali posted on X.
"Usually you go in front of the person that you want to protect," Democratic strategist Adam Parkhomenko posted on X.
"Protecting from behind. Sure, Katie, sure," former tennis champion Martina Navratilova posted on X.
