Kellyanne Conway: Administration officials ‘shouldn’t be there’ if they want to ‘protect America from Trump’

Appearing on CNN's State of the Union on Sunday morning, White House special counselor Kellyanne Conway lashed out at the anonymous author of the New York Times op-ed who claimed to be undermining President Donald Trump to save America, saying that person has no place in the administration.

Alternately calling the unknown author "cowardly" and "not credible," Conway was asked by host Jake Tapper about the author's reasoning behind the critical op-ed.

"The central premise of the op-ed isn't something we haven't heard before," Tapper stated. "We are hearing from others in this administration that they feel it's their duty to protect the country. We have heard this in previous books and reporting. Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) said he heard it from people close to the White House.

"How do you explain the fact that there are senior administration officials in the White House who fell that it is their jobs to protect America from President Trump?" Tapper pressed.

"To the extent that that is true, they shouldn't be there," Conway replied. "In other words, their job is to execute what the president wants."
