Kellyanne Conway's husband shreds Trump's latest immigration rant: 'He has no comprehension of words he's using'

George Conway, the husband of White House adviser Kellyanne Conway, once again tore into President Donald Trump's legal analysis of the Constitution's 14th Amendment after the president tried to claim that it does not mandate birthright citizenship.

Conway, who earlier in the week co-authored an op-ed with former Obama solicitor general Neal Katyal calling Trump's proposal to revoke birthright citizenship "unconstitutional," took to Twitter early Wednesday morning after reading that Trump told supporters at a rally that undocumented immigrants "are not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States," and thus their children born in the U.S. cannot be granted citizenship.

Conway quickly demolished this reasoning by pointing that simply detaining undocumented immigrants makes them subject to U.S. jurisdiction.

"To say that 'illegal immigrants are not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States' is just drivel," he writes. "Were that true, then the government wouldn’t be able to arrest them. Surely that’s not the President’s position."

Conway then suggested that the president was simply too ignorant to fully understand the ramifications of his arguments.

"He has no comprehension of the words he's using," he concluded.
