Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton confronted during tele-town hall

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton held a tele-town hall for his U.S. Senate campaign.

During the Monday event, a caller confronted Paxton.

"Hi Paxton, nice to meet you," the caller began, "I'm just wondering — why did you cheat on your wife?"

Texas Attorney General deflected, "Um. I'm not going to talk about personal issues that relate to my family, just like I don't think you would want to discuss your marriage on a call with thousands of people."

"All I can tell you is that I'm proud of my kids," he added.

Journalist Aaron Rupar shared a video by Caitlin Montgomery Gibson reacting to the call.

His infidelity and the breakdown of his marriage have become campaign liabilities, directly connected to his abuse-of-power scandal that led to his impeachment by the Republican-dominated Texas House.

Though he escaped conviction in the state Senate, Paxton subsequently worked to support primary challengers against representatives who voted to impeach him.

Running in a competitive race against Democratic state representative James Talarico, Paxton continues to face public confrontation about his personal conduct.

Earlier this week, hecklers at a Houston event shouted similar accusations as he campaigned.
