People aren't happy with the White House leaning into accusations of President Donald Trump's tyrannical reputation by posting a picture of him and King Charles with the caption "TWO KINGS" shortly after the regent's visit on Tuesday.
Siraj Hashmi, a co-host of the podcast Habibi Bros, described it as "exceptional rage bait," channeling a British tone. The conservative Daily Wire called it "top-tier rage bait."
Independent journalist Aaron Rupar saw it as an example of "when you're not reading the room," he posted. Christopher Miller, another journalist, wrote that the "U.S. founding fathers rolling in their graves." Podcaster Spencer Hakimian, founder of Tolou Capital Management, said, "George Washington rolling in his grave." Meanwhile, X user Rex Jones asked: "Anyone else grossed out by this?"
Annette Dittert, a London-based political reporter, simply reacted "WTF?" while British TV reporter Chris Ship was also at a loss for words, writing only "Errr..."
Right-wingers made fun of the upset reactions, especially as several national "No Kings" protests have taken place since Trump returned to office last year. Piers Morgan, the British pundit, jokingly responded "BREAKING: 1776 revoked, Monarchy returns to America!" while conservative Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham said, "the White House has waited months to make this joke. Coast to coast, humorless liberals are seething, veins bulging."
