Kinky Friedman: 'I want my ashes spread on Rick Perry’s hair'

Jewish country singer and former gubernatorial candidate Kinky Friedman announced over the weekend that he had completed his last will and testament and it calls for his ashes to be sprinkled on the hair of Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R).

According to The Dallas Morning News, Friedman on Saturday told a crowd at Poor David’s Pub in Dallas that he was considering a run for governor in 2014.

Friedman, who was performing for his Bi-Polar World Tour, said that he had made out his will.

“I’m gonna be cremated and I want my ashes spread on Rick Perry’s hair," he remarked.

Friedman ran as independent for governor against Perry in 2006. And then in 2010, he lost the Democratic nomination for Texas Agriculture Commissioner.

The country music singer has also put his talents to work with regular columns at the Texas Monthly and a series of mystery novels. And Friedman's website sells various products like tequila, cigars and salsa bearing his name.

During a recent appearance at Lakewood Medallion Discount Liquors in Dallas, Friedman explained some of his ideas for solving the state's budget problems.

"I would campaign very hard to legalize casino gambling," he said. "And to legalize, regulate and tax marijuana. If we can accomplish those two things, we won't be talking about any kind of taxes for 30 years."
