Kristi Noem, the Homeland Security secretary, ripped a protester trolling her in a chicken suit during her visit to Portland, Oregon, telling a right-wing influencer, "He could do better."
Noem was in town to tour the city’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility amid ongoing protests and intensifying tensions over the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration crackdown. During her visit, she met with Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek and local law enforcement, including the city's police chief and the county sheriff, to discuss law enforcement’s response to protests and federal immigration.
MAGA ally Benny Johnson accompanied Noem on Tuesday, as the two looked down at protests from the top of the facility. In a video shared to his X account, Noem scans the city as protesters shout at her from below. One of them was dressed in a chicken outfit, while others held signs and American Flags.
At one point, the protesters mocked Noem by playing the theme song from "The Benny Hill Show," a popular British comedy TV program, and goading her to "come on down!"
"I got a Subway sandwich for ya!" one protester shouts, a reference to a Washington, D.C. protester who hurled a Subway sandwich at a federal officer and was subsequently hit with felony charges from the Trump administration.
"Boo!" the protester added.
The same protester appeared to mock Noem's admission that she shot her 14-month-old dog, Cricket, after the dog behaved aggressively and attacked livestock.
"No dogs here! Woof, woof, woof!" he shouts.
The protest caught Johnson's attention, who asked Noem, "Uh, Secretary, do you have a message to the protesters? Particularly the man in the chicken outfit?"
"The man in the chicken outfit? I just see him now. Goodness sakes. Well, he could do better," she said. She called the protesters “uneducated and ill-informed.”
