Lauren Boebert's former campaign manager accused the FBI of "terrorizing parents" after agents raided her home this week as part of an investigation involving MAGA-loving clerk Tina Peters.
Conservative activist Sherronna Bishop, who worked for Rep. Boebert (R-CO) until after her 2020 GOP primary victory, told Westword that agents "used a battering ram to enter her abode and terrorized her children while refusing to say why they had invaded her privacy."
"This is an unprecedented day in America," Bishop said.
Westword called Bishop "a controversial figure" who has "praised the far-right, neo-fascist group the Proud Boys," referencing an ABC News report about Boebert's support for QAnon.
"When we reached out to Bishop for comment on this report, she sent us a photo of herself taking a bite out of a large food item and holding a beer at an Oktoberfest event," Westword reports.
Bishop told Westword via text message that "while schooling my youngest children, the FBI along with Mesa County investigator Matthew Struwe [his name is actually Michael Struwe] decided it was necessary to bust open my front door with a battering ram and put me in handcuffs while they trampled through my home terrifying my family. My two youngest children were present and watched all of this occur. My daughter was pulled around by her hoodie by one of the FBI agents."
"I asked repeatedly what this was about and was denied an answer while they 'cleared' my home. It is still unclear to me why the FBI and the Mesa County DA, Dan Rubenstein, believed such force was necessary," Bishop said, adding that she has "been available and transparent to any organization that wanted to speak with me, even initiating a briefing in September with Mesa County officials and the DA's office to present election information."
"Even though I have gone through great lengths to be transparent about my positions, the Biden administration's DOJ [Department of Justice] has made good on its threat to begin terrorizing parents who dare to speak out for their children and challenge election integrity," Bishop said.
Bishop later posted video of Facebook of her damaged door, writing, "Dan Rubinstein owes me a door."
According to the Washington Post, the Colorado attorney general's office disputed Bishop's description of the raid, saying that "this judicially authorized search was executed in a professional and lawful manner."
"A spokeswoman for the FBI confirmed that the bureau 'conducted authorized law enforcement actions . . . in support of an ongoing investigation' and declined to comment further," the Post reports. "The search warrants left at Bishop's home indicate that the FBI is investigating potential crimes including intentional damage to a protected computer, wire fraud, conspiracy to cause intentional damage to a protected computer and conspiracy to commit wire fraud, according to details she shared in an interview with right-wing media personality Brannon Howse."
