A Colorado Republican unleashed a blistering attack on Lauren Boebert, calling her a "hypocrite" who sold her constituents down the river to save herself from defeat.
In a statement released to local paper the Journal-Advocate this week, former state Senator Don Coram, who unsuccessfully tried to unseat Lauren Boebert in the 3rd Congressional District in 2022, criticized her switch to the state's 4th District — a move thought to be made to avoid a tough reelection.
Boebert has, however, been surprised by tough competition for her party's nomination in the new district.
"When the smoke finally cleared recently, and it was evident she might not win the 3rd CD Primary election and most certainly would lose in the General election, she bolted to the 4th CD, abandoning the people of the 3rd CD to save herself," Coram wrote.
"What happened to fighting for the people and what you believe in? Boebert’s record shows that she believes, 'rules are for thee, but not for me.' Did she truly not anticipate that her numerous embarrassing antics, spanning nearly two decades, coupled with a lackluster record of accomplishments, would go unnoticed?"
He went on, blasting the congresswoman for what he suggested was a cynical rebranding aimed at ingratiating herself with the residents of the district she now hopes to represent.

"Her new strategy appears to involve a rebranding effort — showcasing her store-bought "enhancements," ditching the glasses, and donning a black cowboy hat — a formula she believes will make her the darling of the 4th CD," he wrote.
"The term “all hat and no cattle” seems like a pretty good description. That dog doesn't seem likely to hunt. Boebert, a carpetbagger, is banking on people not doing their research.
"...This move to the 4th displays prominently that Lauren's only interest and priority is protecting her celebrity status and keeping the only good-paying job she has had in her life. Kind of ironic for somebody who rails against "career politicians."
Coram then reminded readers that Boebert once called Democratic state Sen. Kerry Donovan a hypocrite for attempting a run in the 3rd District. As the Journal-Advocate points out, Donovan’s home was moved from the 3rd District to the 2nd District by redistricting in 2021, although she still owned property in the 3rd.
“Running for office is a calling, not a career move," Boebert said at the time, Coram wrote. "Perhaps Ms. Donavan should focus on where she lives, works, and votes instead of trying to increase her political position by pandering to folks she doesn’t even know."
Coram responded to that: "Hypocrisy anyone? What is good for the goose, is good for the gander! In closing, I'll be direct: Lauren, if you have one ounce of moral fiber, either withdraw from the CD 4 race or publicly acknowledge that you yourself are a carpetbagging hypocrite."
