Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) accused Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) of trying to "rig" elections by leaving Congress months earlier than he had planned.
In a live "special announcement" on Wednesday, Boebert explained why she would not be running in the special election to temporarily fill Buck's seat after he declared yesterday that his previously announced retirement would start this month.
She previously announced she would run in Buck's district during the Republican primary and general election.
"So, the Uniparty is trying to do everything that they can to stop my candidacy, to rig the election in Colorado, and, you know, this is breaking news as of yesterday," Boebert said. "The establishment concocted a swampy backroom deal to try to rig an election, an election that I'm winning by 25 points, forcing an unnecessary special election. When? The same day as the primary election in Colorado."
Boebert worried that it would "confuse" voters to hold a special election and a primary on the same day.
"We already have this extremely razor-thin majority, and now Ken Buck has said that he's resigning next week on March 22nd, and the 4th District will go three months without a voice in Washington, D.C. I believe that Colorado's 4th District deserves better," she continued.

Boebert said she would not "imperil the already very slim House Republican majority by resigning my current seat" in the 3rd District to run in the 4th District's special election.
"And I am the only Trump-endorsed America First candidate in this race, and I will win the 4th District's primary election on June 25th and, of course, the general election on November 5th," she opined.
"A Republican will win that special election, and they can sit there for six months and feel it's important or whatever it is they may do, but we are going to continue, and on June 25th, we will win the primary, go on to win the general election and serve alongside President Trump in his next term as President of the United States and you know what?
"The next four years are going to be even better than his first four."
