Lawmakers reach 'agreement on principle' to avert another government shutdown

After months of negotiations, lawmakers said that they have come to an "agreement on principle" that will prevent another government shutdown.

Details have not been released on what the negotiations entail or if President Trump will approve of it.

The deal includes $1.375 billion for physical barriers, which is what Democrats first offered and Trump turned down. The so-called barrier would specifically be a bollard barrier. According to CNN's Phil Mattingly, the funds will be used on 55 new miles of barriers.

Trump announced in his rally Monday that a wall in the middle of the Rio Grande River was already being built.

"Detention bed number stays at current funding level of 40,520 (a number currently surpassed by ICE), with Dems dropping demand of 16,500 cap on interior beds," Mattingly tweeted.
