Leaked Israeli intel assessment claims Trump's big Singapore stunt was just a photo op

A leaked classified Israeli intelligence assessment has come to the conclusion that President Donald Trump's big summit this week with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was mostly a photo op that is unlikely to lead to any real change in the North Korean government's behavior.

Axios reports that Israel's foreign ministry recently issued a report that casts doubt on the significance of Trump's meeting with Kim in Singapore.

In particular, the report notes that the joint statement signed by the two countries contains language that is weaker than agreements that North Korea has signed in the past. What's more, it notes that Trump made a major concession up front in agreeing to stop joint military exercises between the United States and South Korea.

In the end, the report concludes that Kim is unlikely to change his behavior significantly in the near future, as he has already achieved multiple objectives without giving up much in return.

"Regardless of the smiles in the summit many in Japan, South Korea and the U.S. Congress doubt that North Korea is sincere in its intentions," the report states. "Our assessment is that regardless of President Trump's statements about quick changes that are expected in North Korean policy, the road the real and substantive change, if it ever happens, will be long and slow."
