New York Attorney General Letitia James delivered a succinct, if weary, address to the media outside the civil court room where she concluded her $370 million fraud case against former President Donald Trump on Thursday.
"No matter how powerful you are, no matter how rich you are...no one is above the law," James said. "The law applies to all of us, equally and fairly...I trust that justice will be done."
James' address stood in stark contrast to Trump's in the specificity of her statement.
While Trump's press conference saw him suggest presidents can order political assassinations and call James a "political hack" responsible for Exxon's decision to leave New York City more than three decades ago, James focused on the evidence presented at trial.
"This case has never been about politics, or personal vendetta, or about name-calling," James said. "This case is about the facts and the law and Mr. Trump violated the law."

James reminded viewers that Trump, who denies wrongdoing, has already been found liable of defrauding investors and lenders by inflating the value of his assets.
She then addressed Trump's courtroom remarks during which he accused James of trying to torpedo his presidential campaign out of hatred.
"I want everyone to know the personal attacks really don't bother me," James said. "The fact is that this trial has shown, and we have produced evidence about the scope, the scale, the depth, the breadth of the illegality, the fraud, that personally enriched Donald Trump and his family."
James then thanked Judge Arthur Engoron, her team at the New York Attorney General's office, and Trump's lawyers.
"I'm extremely proud," said James, "of the case that we put on."
