LGBT magazine editor and rights activist hacked to death in Bangladesh

An editor at the first LGBT magazine in Bangladesh was hacked to death by suspected Islamist militants on Monday in the capital city of Dhaka.

According to a BBC breaking news alert, one other person was killed and another injured in a horrific attack that took place in the unnamed editor's apartment.

The editor and activist worked for the magazine Roopban, which was founded in 2014 by volunteers. It was the Muslim nation's first magazine aimed at the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans communities.

The Mirror quoted Dhaka Metropolitan Police spokesperson Maruf Hossain Sorder, who said: “Unidentified attackers entered an apartment at Kalabagan and hacked two people to death. Another person was injured."

The attack follows a similar gang murder of a Dhaka university professor on Saturday.
