President Donald Trump's infamous position-shifting caught the attention of an MSNBC panel discussing the president's policy-making (or lack thereof) on the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals order.
"[Trump] watches cable television, which was like a thermostat, people don't like this," former Under Secretary of State Rick Stengel said.
"It's like voting onĀ The Voice," host Nicolle Wallace exclaimed, "you watch and then you text your choice. He literally is watching coverage of himself and changing his positions on social media."
Earlier in the segment, MSNBC political analyst Eugene Robinson also blasted the optics-seeking nature of Trump's DACA position.
"This is important to his brand," Robinson said. "Anti-immigration is important to the Donald Trump brand that got him elected president."
"Even though it is clear he would like to keep DACA," he continued, "he had to ax it."
