A municipal Republican chair in Pennsylvania believes his efforts to encourage people to vote for someone other than Donald Trump could lead to his ouster.
Matthew McCaffery, the GOP municipal chair in Upper Merion Township, wrote an op-ed in the Philadelphia Inquirer last month saying that while he voted for Trump in 2016, he would vote Democrat this year — and encouraged others to join him.
"When Donald Trump was invited to visit the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris, where thousands of Americans killed in combat are buried, he refused and called the heroes buried there 'suckers' and 'losers.' I don’t agree with Joe Biden on a lot, but he had enough honor to visit the cemetery and pay his respects," wrote McCaffery.
He later added that Trump "spits in the face of the sacrifice we veterans made, and I cannot believe I brought myself to vote for him in 2016."

McCaffery vowed to do everything he can to prevent a second Trump term — even making a video for Republican Voters Against Trump.
He told WCAU this week that his actions led to a formal complaint against him — and a possible disciplinary hearing if he refuses to resign.
He acknowledged he broke rules or bylaws, but said: "The way I look at is: I didn't commit 34 felonies; I haven't been found liable for sexual misconduct; I haven't drug our country through one of the worst days in our history on Jan. 6."
Christian Nascimento, chair of the Montgomery County Republican Committee, told the news outlet that it's "probably not" in a person's best interest to be a committee person if they feel they can't support the party's candidates, including for president.
"I'm not going to get into discipline or actions or anything like that, but our bylaws are pretty clear that if you want to serve as a committee person in the party then you support the endorsed ticket," Nascimento said.
