Luke, I am your -- robber? Watch rifle-toting 'Darth Vader' stick up North Carolina bank

On Tuesday, a State Employees Credit Union (SECU) bank was robbed by a person dressed as Star Wars villain Darth Vader.

ABC News reported that the robbery took place around 11:45 a.m. and that the suspect was dressed in all black with a Darth Vader mask and armed with a rifle.

"Very highly unusual, highly unusual," said Lt. Corey Copley of the Pineville Police to WCNC. "You see all kinds of disguises here and there, but this one in my experience is the most unusual."

The thief reportedly sat outside the bank in an SUV for some time before entering the building and carrying out the robbery. Copley said the suspect's choice of weapon was unusual as well.

"A small handgun would be the way to do it, but a long gun is definitely another rare situation in this case," the detective explained.
