Maher rips media hypocrisy on Trump: What he says would put anybody else out of the race

Real Time host Bill Maher once again criticized media outlets on Wednesday for what he called a double standard regarding Donald Trump's campaign rhetoric.

"Trump, what he does racially, are you crazy?" he asked MSNBC's Chris Matthews. "That stuff would have anybody else out of the race."

Maher also referred back to his New Rules segment last month saying that Democrat Hillary Clinton was being held up to a higher standard.

"Trump can say John McCain isn’t a war hero? If Hillary said that, they’d be burning pantsuits in effigy," he said at the time.

Matthews then asked whether Trump using an anti-Native American slur against Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) was "nefarious."

"I don't think it was nefarious," Maher said. "Everybody before Trump had to play by one set of rules. And he plays by a separate set of rules."

Perhaps unwittingly, Matthews underscored Maher's point when he mentioned the slur.

"The first time I heard it, I thought it was funny," the Hardball host said. "It lost a lot of value as he kept doing it."
