Manafort’s lawyers refusing to answer Senate's phone calls -- even after indictment threat

The Republican Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee voiced frustration to CNN that Paul Manafort's attorney's have been refusing to return calls.

CNN congressional correspondent Manu Raju caught up with Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on Capitol Hill Tuesday.

"Wouldn't you think, since he's been told he's going to be indicted, that he wouldn't come before the committee and if he did come before the committee, we wouldn't get any information out of him?" Sen. Grassley asked the CNN reporter.

"We have made [attempts] for weeks trying to get phone calls returned from his lawyers and they haven't returned the phone calls," a frustrated Grassley reported.

Manafort, Donald Trump's former campaign chairman and manager, has been plagued by difficulties in mounting his legal defense.

Manafort has had multiple lawyer shakeups and Special Counsel Robert Mueller has subpoenaed a former Manafort attorney.
