Marjorie Taylor Greene's 'level of stupidity is untenable': Ex-RNC chair
Former Republican Party chairman Michael Steele blasted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) for her ignorance of basic government functionality.
Greene presides over a subcommittee created to handle the Donald Trump-created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The initiative was then handed over to billionaire Elon Musk to cut as much as $2 trillion from government spending. The result has been a massive purge of government staff outside Washington.
Greene's committee met on Wednesday, where she painted the mass firings as part of stopping the "waste, fraud and abuse" of funding.

"That's changing in quarters as folks on the ground begin to experience more and more of what DOGE isn't," said Steele. "It is not a government efficiency operation. It is not, you know, designed to spare those who are directly impacted by these decisions."
Greene said that federal employees aren't working like businesses where they're making a profit; they're taking from "American tax people who work real jobs."
"Federal employees do not deserve their jobs," said Greene.
MSNBC host Chris Jansing asked, "Maybe I'm confused, but isn't she a federal employee?"
"Yes, yes," he agreed. "The level of stupid there is untenable. And the fact that she's the chair of this subcommittee should tell you everything you need to know. She is a federal employee. The American people don't agree with what's happening."
He cited recent polling showing that even Republicans disagree with the cuts.
"So, I just — this is where we are, Chris," Steele said. "And the country is going to have to grapple with the wholesale onslaught against the government and the mess that's being left in its wake, because this is not going to get undone easily. As long as you have individuals like that sitting with power and control over how this plays out."
