The Republican civil war over President Donald Trump’s sprawling budget bill so no signs of slowing down Friday as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) unloaded on Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) and other GOP colleagues.
At the center of the drama is the bill’s treatment of the state and local tax deduction, also known as SALT. Lawler, like others in the New York delegation, is currently opposed to the president’s package for failing to fully repeal the SALT cap. The bitter feud between Greene and Lawler spilled over into a public battle Wednesday as the two Republican lawmakers flung jabs at each other.
Greene continued the back-and-forth Friday with a fiery social media rant where she accused Lawler, along with Reps. Andrew Clyde (R-GA), Ralph Norman (R-SC), Chip Roy (R-TX) and Josh Brecheen (R-OK), of “throwing our majority away.”

“This group, Clyde, Roy, Norman, and Brecheen are all in nice red seats and I think they are screwing things up just as badly as RINO Mike Lawler,” Greene wrote on X.
She added that her GOP colleagues are “dying on their own hills where they have built their mini kingdoms,” and claimed they “never supported Trump until the end of the election cycle until they had no choice.”
“They never went to rally after rally all over the country like I did, and I went to more than anyone fighting to win,” Greene wrote. “These guys have no idea what made millions of people stand in lines for hours, give Trump standing ovations, and hold their hand over their hearts and cry.”
She added that she just wants “to pass the big beautiful bill, Trump’s EOs, and DOGE rescission cuts and win, win, win!!”
Lawler introduced a bill in 2023 moving SALT caps to $20,000 and now he is a NO on our reconciliation bill because he says our bill raises SALT caps to $30,000 and says that is not enough!
SALT caps at $30,000 is for Lawler’s district allows 93% of his constituents to write off…
