Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said that any Republican wanting to be Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives will have to defeat former President Donald Trump to earn her vote.
During an interview on Real America's Voice, Greene explained to host David Brody that she supports Trump for Speaker even though she opposed removing former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA)
"I'm sure I'll be talking with him today," she said of Trump. "Now that we have an opportunity to elect a new speaker, I'm going to force Washington to realize and remember that the American people support President Trump. He is winning the primary overwhelmingly."
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?
"We want him back as president," the lawmaker continued. "So why not make him Speaker of the House, even if it's an interim speaker, while we work to find another speaker? ... The only way to earn my vote is to beat President Trump and match his policies."
Greene said she did not support the removal of McCarthy because she was "not willing to throw red meat out, fake red meat that's like red meat grown in a Petri dish, like Bill Gates' red meat."

"But I also support President Trump unapologetically, and I will never back down from supporting him and his policies," she added. "So I think people also that are cheering for this today need to realize the dangerous situation we are in as a country, and that now we don't have a Republican speaker."
Greene concluded by calling herself a "realistic person."
